A Dream about Reality
I woke up today after having a dream where no one had any rights and everyone in the dream was scared of being found by this reporter that was supposed to be looking for people to expose their locations. The reason she did this was so some ominous group could then ruin their life and prevent them from living at their houses. It was a weird dream but it was sort of relevant because of what I’ve seen taking place over the last 5 years in the media. These people are stoking up so much fear and hatred that they’re making it acceptable to make a few members of the public acceptable casualties in their pursuits of ratings. This idea that everyone owes some news circus anything is laughable, really.
No one owes these circus performers anything. I can’t watch Fox or MSNBC for more than 5 minutes without asking myself, “How much worse can we get?” These partisan stations are not good for society because they barely present an objective reality. They present something that is more similar to a smear-oriented game show. It’s a shame many people take these “news” (entertainment) outlets as fact. They are mostly all very biased and paying too much attention to them will not make you more informed, it will make you more confident in a faulty worldview.
It’s sort of sick really. I would like to say comedians are funny, but many comics doing political comedy are really at this point just stoking unnecessary anger. People are getting very angry over political jokes. A classy society would find political jokes every single night of the year to be in bad taste.
Most of these nightly comedians are very anti-Trump, but it’s not about him as much as it is about finding humor in division. Division is not funny. These comedians like Jimmy Kimmel are losers. Classy comedians are not doing constant political humor. Only paid mouthpieces are doing that.
That’s the same reason why “The Five” on Fox is so hard to listen to. Paid mouthpieces babbling on about nonsense half the time. Laughing at division. Division is not funny, it’s dangerous and fuels anger.
There are people that lose their minds over the way the media is. The game show they play is “who do we destroy today?” It’s an evil circus, and the hosts are like evil clowns. It’s not something that’s tasteful to support, unless you like twisted junk. Regardless of what confirmation bias you’re looking to prop up by engaging with these divisive segments, they should be avoided beyond surface level interactions.
If you want to be informed and have class, there are ways to make that happen. Try reading a more factual book on history. Not an editorial. Try watching C-SPAN or learning to do your own analysis of something, such as stocks or bonds.
But watching Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, etc. That will make you insufferable to many people that have long ago tuned out such aggressive messaging. No one wants to engage with someone pushing 2% of the information like it is 100% reality.
